The first week of October we went out to see Dean and Lana in Michigan. Echo and Larry went with us and we had a wonderful vacation. We spent several days with Dean and Lana in the mission home, went to a zone conference to see how it was all done, and enjoyed the missionary experience. The we went to Nauvoo and Carthage. This is Dale standing in front of the Carthage jail. The upper window is the one Joseph Smith fell out of when he was shot and killed here. I like to think that angels were there to catch him before he hit the ground. This is a sacred place.
This is the statue of Joseph and Hyrum in front of the jail.
This is the end of the street where the Saints left Nauvoo and started across the frozen Mississippi River in February. In the past it was called the "Trail of Tears" now it has been renamed the "Trail of Hope". Grandpa Orson Pratt owned the property just across the street from this road. He also owened the property acroos the street from the temple. Both of these properties had a great view.
This is the Mission Home! We are standing with the best Mission President in the whole entire church. (One of the sister missionaries told me that they were "perfect", I believed her.) They really are. All the missionaries love them sooooo much! Lana gives them so much TLC that they like to call her daily just to hear her sweet voice. The missionary standing by Dale is Elder Rau from Cedar City.
It was just great being together again. We miss them at are counting the days until they are back in Utah.
The statues of Joseph and Hyrum going "like lambs to the slaughter" to Carthage, is very humbling.
We were able to go through a temple session in Nauvoo with Echo and Larry. They knew several of the temple workers serving here.
We had such a good time!
